Alzheimer's Society

The challenge

The Alzheimer’s Society was merging its two London Head office buildings to a new head office site. The creation of a new site led the charity to consider a new communications infrastructure and review its technology strategy to improve productivity and reduce costs.

The solution

The solution, a unified communication (UC) solution, incorporates Microsoft’s Office Communications Server (OCS) and Live Meeting, as well as NEC’ IP telephony and Contact Centre technology, to help the Alzheimer’s Society to streamline business processes by improving the reachability and presence information of staff. By incorporating Microsoft Office Live Meeting, Alzheimer’s Society also plan to revolutionise their training sessions by running live broadcasts for delegates to attend remotely.

Phil Shoesmith, Head of IT for the society says, “We expect to reap numerous benefits from UC. Improved staff connectivity and enhanced presence information will have a very positive impact on business productivity and efficiency.”

Commenting on the strategy to revolutionise their training capabilities, Phil Shoesmith says, “At present we are spending a great deal of time and money on travelling for meetings and training sessions and cutting out unnecessary business travel will not only save time and reduce spend but also generate environmental benefits.”
