South Gloucestershire Council |

The Challenge South Gloucestershire Council had over 2,500 users accessing File and Print services on multiple legacy NetWare servers, and a variety of GroupWise deployments for email & collaboration services. The distributed nature of the environment (serving some 40 + locations) meant that it was difficult to maintain standards at multiple locations and their multiple servers. Troubleshooting and user management became difficult and often fraught with logistical problems. The Solution South Gloucestershire Council elected to consolidate the ICT infrastructure and standardise on a new, integrated Microsoft based infrastructure; simultaneously replacing NetWare with Windows 2003 and GroupWise with Exchange 2003. NEC’ team assisted by analysing the current environment, and then designed, tested and piloted the entire migration process in close association with the Council IT administrators. Following successful test and pilot stages, this joint effort delivered all of the changes to every site within the Council’s infrastructure. Why NEC ? NEC was able to develop and deploy best-of-class solutions to meet the Council’s needs. Our partnership approach to the project meant that the two organisations worked closely together to the overall benefit of the project, the Council and its employees. <NEXT> |
